18HU20150504 - salinity
Fits ok to MM2009 - supposed to be spot on. Hence, no adjustment suggested due
to the large uncertainty whether the increasing trend is still present (how
strong). Maybe too high though...

Analysis is done for normalized tco2 (Frijs et al. 2003). Temporal trend towards
higher concentrations visible. All crossovers are above the acceptable range.
Trend in line with previous findings. Given the trend, the data might just fall
nicely on it's line. No adjustment needed.

There is a large variability between the different crossover results. The mean
weighted offset is slightly below the lower limit. However, given the ok fit to
the most recent cruises (also present on density surfaces) "neglect" weighted
mean offset.
Further, just as for the other HU cruises the interconsistecny check (type 2)
and the crossover reusults do not agree... Assuming the TA and tco2 data are
accurate, pH data is offset by 0.0123 +/- 0.0202 (note the large standard
deviation). Again, given the large uncertainty do not adjust...

All offsets are below one. Further, except for one, all offsets are below the

in front of Canada. Adjust 3% upward (upper limit of weighted mean).

Good - ok agreement with recent (younger 2006) crossovers. Thus, there seems to
be a trend towards less oxygen rich water. Note that some other cruises have
very scattery data, e.g. HU1996. Given the temporal trend, neglect weighted mean
offset and maintain.
