49NZ20121128 - salinity
It is a highly variable region. 88% of the crossovers (16) indicate too low
salinity. The most recent cruise (AR2011) shows an "ok" result. Maintain.
Note that 90KD1992 is not trustworthy but strongly influences the weighted mean.

49NZ20121128 - tco2
The majority of the crossovers indicates slightly too high concentrations.
However, TG2002 illustrates a nice fit and the weighted mean is within the
acceptable range. Maintain.

The cruise track covers a highly variable region, i.e. crossovers in the eastern
part (09AR2008) differ strongly from crossovers in the western part (31DS1996).
Further, if the uncertainty (31DS1996) is included all offsets are within the
accetable range. The weighted mean is also close to 0. Maintain.

The crossovers do not allow for a clear adjustment/conclusion. The
interconsistency check (type 2) however reveals that the pH data might be
slightly too high (offset of 0.0053). Nonetheless, given the uncertainty about
the accuracy of the tco2 data and that the crossover results for pH indicate
rather too low pH values - Maintain.

Most offsets are within the 2% range. Weighted mean reflects good impression
being smaller 1%.
Note that the crossover stations for KD1992 are possibly to far apart.

49NZ20121128 - silicate
There are many good x-overs with good cruises, where the present cruise is
persistently too low. Also the weighted mean is 0.98. Moreover, there the
deviating high x-over with 49HH20011127 is not a convincing one. Therefore, I
suggest an adjustment of 1.02

First of, 49HH2001 is not trustworthy at the crossover point (it covers quite a
large area). All the other crossovers show a negative offset near or below the
lower limit.
All in all it is tricky… but given the natural variability of this region, there
is not enough evidence for a small adjustment.
