58GS20130717 - salinity
There is a temporal trend towards more saline water.
Still, the offset to the GS2009 cruise is very high (0.0086). Further, the
offsets are strongly depth dependant.
Need to consider a slight adjustment to put this cruise (at least) on the trend
line…

58GS20130717 - tco2
Analysis performed for normalized tco2 (Frijs et al. 2003).
There is a temporal trend towards higher concentrations. The most recent
cruises(younger 2002)show offsets within the limits. Maintain.

58GS20130717 - alkalinity
Analysis performed for normalized alkalinity (Frijs et al. 2003).
The data is very scattery. However, all offsets are within the limits - mostly
postive. But the uncertainty in this region remains quite large - see also the
standard deviations of the offsets. Maintain.

Most crossovers indicate at least 10% too high values. Given the nice agreement
between the different offsets, adjust accordingly to the weighted mean downward.

Crossovers older 2000 indicate slightly too high concentrations, however given
the quality of many of these crossovers those results are doubtful. Also note
that the offsets of the different rossovers show a large variability, especially
JH cruises (compare both JH1996 cruises). Further, the more recent cruises fall
into the acceptable range. Maintain.

There seems to be a temporal trend towards higher concentrations until 2000. But
that trend seems to have stopped. Following the two most recent GS cruises (2006
& 2009) a 1.05 offset seems reasonable. Adjust downward accordingly.
Note that the data is very precise.

All crossvers show roughly 10% too low concentrations. Crossovers with cruises
older 1995 show rather stronger offsets, vice versa for more recent cruises (all
within a 6% range). Adjust
according to the weighted mean upward.
