58GS20160802 - salinity
A clear trend towards more saline waters can be seen (confirming the other
salinity GS-crossovers). Given that the two most recent crossovers (GS2006 &
2009) are within the acceptable range and the positive offsets fit to the trend
- no adjustment suggested.

58GS20160802 - tco2
The analysis is performed with normalized tco2 (Frijs et al. 2003). Again the
profiles are very scattery (see also standard deviations of offsets) and a
temporal trend towards higher concentrations of carbonate is visible. Given an
ongoing "linear" trend the data might be even too low . However, clearly within
the acceptable range.
Maintain.

After discussion it is decided that there is not enough evidence to warrant an

All crossovers indicate at least 2% too high values. A trend towards phosphate
richer waters can not be detected. Further, the offset becomes stronger at
greater depth. Adjust according to the weighted mean downward.

58GS20160802 - nitrate
The offsets are dependant on the depth - negative offsets near 2000m become
positive near the bottom. Further, crossovers with cruises older 1996 have in
general stronger positive offsets. Based on the more recent cruises and
especially the good fit to GS2006 no adjustment suggested. Note that the shape
of the profiles of GLODAPv2 are quite different to the cruise data.

Also for silicate there seems to be a temporal trend towards higher
concentrations. However, especially at greater depth this trend seems to have
"flattened" - see the offset of GS2006 & 2009 below 3000m. Given the good fit to
these to cruises no adjustment suggested. Note the strong depth dependance of
the offsets in general.

There seems to be a very strong temporal trend. Both the quantity of oxygen as
well as it's distribution changed a lot in time (compare GS cruises). The data
fit well to this trend line - neglect weighted mean offset and maintain.
